The Granon challenge !

In 1978, Louison Bobet gave the departure of the first race on the Granon pass. Every year, this event gather thousands of cyclists and runners. This challenge takes place the first sunday in august.

In 1986, A stage of the Tour de France arrived on the top of the pass. Thanks to that race, the place became more and more famous.

The road rises 1063m of vertical ascent on 12km. The marvellous scenery long the way is one of the reason to enter the race.

The Granon, known as the hardest pass in the county, rises at 2404 m. It is one of the steepest in Europe with an average uphill of 9,3 %. The Granon challenge is also one of the oldest race in the Hautes-Alpes.

• Bibs
Bibs withdrawing all day on saturday from 9am to 12am and from 2pm to 7pm and sunday morning from 7.30am to 9.15 in the Tourist Office of Chantemerle.

• Departure
The race starts front the townhall in St-Chaffrey, route du Pont-Levis, at 10am for cyclists and 10.05am for runners.
