Skiing in winter

Cross country skiing

Nordic sledge

Or cross country skiing in a sitting position. Can be used by skiers with no upper abdominal function and no functional sitting balance. A guide can help by pushing the sledge from the rear using a pole. Requires a certain level of fitness but allows skiers to use their upper body and appreciate a new activity.

Pulka

The Nordic pulka is a sledge pulled by a skier or walker. The skier is comfortably seated in the sledge protected from the wind and cold. The pulka allows people who have very limited movement to actively enjoy the feeling of skiing in a beautiful environment and in the company of a guide

Alpine skiing

Dual ski

The dual ski is a sit ski that can be placed on any pair of skis and standard bindings making it highly adaptable and stable. The articulated frame allows skiers to adapt the angle of inclination of the skis to their ability.

Uni ski

The uni ski is a sit ski that only uses one ski. It is easy to manœuvre but requires greater balance. Once mastered this is a faster and more dynamic way of getting down the mountain

VFC

Similar to the dual and uni skis but generally used for race training and racing only

Tandem or Mountain man

A piloted sledge which can be used by quadriplegics or as a first taste of adaptive skiing. An instructor controls all movement of the sledge while the skier can sit back and enjoy the ride!

The kartski

A broad sledge-like device primarily for use by high level paraplegics, or those with difficulties with their balance. With the help of an instructor it can pick up a lot of speed and provide a truly exciting ride! Suitable for use on easy slopes by both adults and children

Outriggers

(Modified Canadian crutches with a small ski on the end) An assistive device for balance and initiating turns.

Ski instructors specialised in handiski propose private lessons. A special teaching also exist for the visually impaired and the deaf.
