The Guisane valley has a rich selection of mountain bike trails that climb up mountain paths through larch forests and descent the green fields of Alpine pastures, letting you explore all aspects of the mountain environment. There are kilometres and kilometres of marked paths for mountain bike enthusiasts in Serre Chevalier…
11 crosscountry routes (181 kilometers) which belong to the Grand Briançonnais area where you can find 506km of marked trails
3 terminal service for Mountain bikes are available for free (wash – inflation) and are located in Saint Chaffrey at the bottom of Luc Alphand piste, in Monetier les Bains and in Villeneuve near the chairlift Casse du Boeuf
All trails are accessible to evrybody : families, friends and fond of performance.
Special signs are used to discern downhill trails to Xcountry ones.
The Briançonnais is recognized since 2008 by the French Federation of Cycling asa Mountain Bike spot.
This year discover “MTB Galaxy” : 5 resorts for a unique pass
Our choice of routes:
- Route No. 26: distance 25 km, elevation gain: 160 meters
This route takes you through all the villages of Serre Chevalier: The Monetier les Bains, Villeneuve and Chantemerle.
- Route No. 28: distance 10 km, elevation gain: 180 m +
This route on the southern side, starts in Chantemerle and takes you through several small hamlets: Les Pananches, Villard Late and St Chaffrey.
- Route No. 29: distance 9 km, elevation gain: 70 meters
Start in Chantemerle, this route suits to beginners who want to learn mountain biking. This circuit makes you discover the old Villeneuve. Opportunities for picnics are offered around the lake Pontillas.
- Route No. 31: distance 6 km , elevation drop: -130 m
This beautiful trail shaded by trees, follows an old canal. From the village of Chantemerle, reach the town of Briancon.
Intermediate trails – Blue
- Route No. 21: Distance: 20 km elevation drop : -1170 m
The legendary trail of the Galibier offers an exceptional view over the Ecrins and Meije ranges. This 18 km route starts on top of the former road of the Galibier, then extends into the valley of Guisane through the charming villages of Lauzet, Boussardes until Monetier les Bains.
- Route No. 22: Distance: 12 km elevation drop : -590 m
The trail from the top of Lautaret pass, a 12 km route which offers an exceptional view like the previous trail. It follows a path along the valley until the village of Monetier les Bains where one can follow further trails
- Route No. 24: Distance: 12 km elevation drop : -170 m
Loop in Monetier les Bains. This route makes you discover the village and its environment
Advanced Trails – Red
- Route No. 23: Distance: 36 km, elevation gain 820 meters.
Chemin du Roy, from the top of Granon pass overhangs the guisane valley along 36 km. Great panorama over the Oisans range. Ride the pass of Buffere, cross valleys, follow the GR under the imposing summit “Aiguillette Lauzet”.
- Route No. 25: distance 25 km, elevation gain 320 meters:
Monetier trails. In the same spirit as the loop No. 24, this route requires a better technical level.
- Route No. 27: distance 20 km, elevation gain 490 meters:
The eduits loop, a 20km route through larch forests takes you to the plateau of Eduits at 1757 m altitude. The descent follows the Luc Alphand ski piste until Chantemerle
- Route No. 30: Distance: 20 km, elevation gain 360 meters:
Les Balcons St Chaffrey is a very technical 20km route. From the top of Granon pass, the trail has got many hairpin bends. In the direction of Saint Chaffrey, the trail follows a former Roman road that leads to the beautiful chapel of St. Arnould.
