After a climb through the heart of the forest, you'll have an exceptional view of the fortified barrier of Briançon. The visit to the fort will enable you to discover the main 18th century military buildings. The tour includes a 35-minute climb to reach the fort.
Allow 25 minutes to walk back down to the car park.

2 ways of getting to the fort's firing range:

By car: From the Heritage Department, Cité Vauban, take avenue Baldenberger, then left to join avenue de la Libération then avenue de la République. At the bottom of the hill, at the first roundabout, go straight ahead and at the next roundabout, turn left into avenue du Général de Gaulle. At the next roundabout, turn left and left again at the end of the road, then immediately right at the roundabout towards the Col d'Izoard. Drive through the hamlet of Fontchristiane. A few hundred metres after the exit sign for the hamlet, take the road on the left, in the bend just before the waste centre.
Caution: reduced visibility, dangerous crossing. Continue on the road that climbs up through the fortifications. Reach the firing range on a platform used as a parking area, where there is a long concrete and wood barrack.
On foot: from the upper town, take the path leading from the Asfeld bridge, a 45-minute climb.
