Inaugural concert of the Collegiate Church organ
A "historic" organ in the heart of the fortified town, with the programme for the opening concert:
Sophie-Véronique Cauchefer-Choplin - Titular of the great organ of St Sulpice will perform :
-Denis Bedard: Suite du premier ton (Plein jeu, Dialogue, Récit, Grand jeu)
-JS Bach: Chorale "Viens maintenant sauveur des païens" (Récit de Cornet/Chorals de Leipzig)
-Felix Mendelssohn: Sonata No. 6 on the Lord's Prayer
-Cesar Franck: Noëls (L'Organiste)
-CH-M Widor: Toccata (5th Symphony)
-Improvvisations on various themes
The historic organ of the Collégiale Notre-Dame de Briançon (Vetter & Galligari, 1776), located in the heart of the fortified town listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, bears witness to the town's rich religious and military past.
The Association des Amis de l'Orgue de la Collégiale (Friends of the Collegiate Church Organ Association) works actively to preserve and promote this instrument, in particular through its well-attended musical events outside church services.
