The son of a mountain hut warden and a woodcutter, Eric has spent his whole life in the mountains, in the heart of the Écrins massif.
Inspired by portraits of his grandfather, father and brother – who still fell timber on horseback – and by the unique bond of trust that unites them, Éric Savoldelli has created a graphic novel of great insight into Italian immigration in the 1950s, high-altitude mountaineering, solidarity in the face of racism, and the strength of the bond between man and animal.
A two-part exhibition, one at the library in La Salle-les-Alpes and the other in Val-des-Prés.
