Time for revolution

Besançon, summer 1973. Lip, one of the jewels in the crown of the watchmaking industry, announces a major redundancy plan. To keep their jobs and save the company, the workers mobilised, seizing watches, hiding them and selling them. Self-management was organised, popularised by the slogan: "It's possible: we make, we sell, we pay ourselves". The result was an unprecedented social movement.
Drawing on a wealth of eyewitness accounts, documents and archive footage, Le Bain Collectif brings the figures of this emblematic struggle to the stage through the story of six male and female workers who, in the course of their struggle, discover solidarity, insubordination and feminism. It's a wonderful human experience about the power of the collective and its limits. A highly topical show.

On stage, the actors take us to the outskirts of the factory, inside the workshops, in the offices, at general meetings and at Christmas dinners. Their movements sometimes take on the appearance of a ballet, like the repetitive gestures of workers. From the white light of the neon lights to the most listened-to music of the 70s playing on the radios, the show is a real journey through time and space.
