Origin of the name Serre Chevalier?
A valley as steeped in history as the Guisane didn't need to ask a designer to come up with a symbol for its resort. It's thanks to the local heritage that the resort has been able to unite its villages behind the banner of the crowned eagle, featured on the coat of arms of the Borel family of the hamlet of Le Bez. As for the name Serre Chevalier, it comes from : "Serre" refers to a hillock (a small mountain in local dialect) and "chevalier" to a ravine carved out by a torrent.
