Serre Chevalier Vallée Briançon is located in the Hautes-Alpes department, in the Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur region. Along with Alpes de Haute-Provence, Savoie and Haute-Savoie, Hautes-Alpes is one of the few departments in the Alpine chain that has no part of its territory outside the mountains. It is one of the highest departments in the Alps.
