This year, we are embarking on a committed project: the setting up of an
Biological and Educational Garden. Located at an altitude of 1400 m, the youth hostel is taking up the challenge of launching an organic market gardening project and intends to experiment with an agro-ecological approach oriented towards permaculture.
Through this project, we have 2 objectives:
- To offer our guests healthy, local and self-produced food by integrating the products of our harvests into the hostel's menus.
- To make the field an educational tool by organising workshops, gardening initiations but also more technical training in permaculture for children, families, and groups.
The aim is to encourage social mixing and to make the field a place of exchange, discovery and sharing of ecological values.
These workshops will be an opportunity to reconnect with nature and to be made aware of current environmental issues in a playful way:
- Guided tour of the garden: Come and discover the different permaculture techniques used, recognise the varieties sown, and learn which are the virtuous associations of plants to reproduce at home.
- Make your own seed bombs! This workshop, aimed at young people, will consist of making balls of clay and earth in which participants will sow seeds. They will be able to understand how germination occurs and take a nice souvenir home with them
We are opening a teleworking space in the Serre Chevalier Youth Hostel. We offer a quiet office available for rent from 9am to 12pm and/or from 5pm to 8pm. This office has a high quality internet access.
This space is accessible to all : clients, professionals, inhabitants of the valley etc...
Late arrival at the hostel is possible. Please contact us in advance so that we can provide you with keys and information.
