PGHM mountain rescue

Mountain rescue in the Hautes-Alpes is alternately provided by the high mountain gendarmerie squad (PGHM) and the CRS Alpes of Briançon. In case of an accident in the mountains outside the ski area, dial 112. Your call will be received by the permanent staff of the departmental fire and rescue centre (CODIS) in Gap, who can put you in touch with the mountain rescue unit. Mountain rescue is free in France; if in doubt, never hesitate to ask for advice from this service.
