A mountain of activities to try according to your desires!
The adventure step by step
One of the best ways to enjoy the XXL nature of Serre Chevalier and the breathtaking views over the valley and the surrounding mountains is to hike on the countless walks and footpaths. It is proven that, in addition to its sporting dimension, walking is source of health protection, creativity, energy and good mood. It is all the more beneficial when you walk in a tremendous scenery, conducive to rejuvenation.
The choice of walking trails on the Serre Chevalier Altitude Area is extensive and adapted to all levels.
Orientation tables, settled at two strategic points of the Altitude Area, enable you to find your way around and to learn the names of the surrounding mountains.
Paths lead you to secret spots, to not-to-be-missed areas and to the possible observation of the local fauna and flora... Watch carefully: animals are pranksters and like to hide. Try to see them without bothering them. Alpine flora will offer you its nicest rainbow, composed of shimmering colours.
Summer in Serre Chevalier is the eldorado of families... The small mountaineers are spoilt and have their own space: the Marmot Camp. They will become addicted!
The adventure on two or three wheels
Mountain biking lovers, don't search anymore, your paradise is here. The Bike Park offers you itineraries adapted to all levels, spread on the whole Altitude Area.
You dream of an adrenaline-inducing and fun descent? Try the Mountain Kart, the downhill scooter and the guided adventure in electric scooter.

Serre Chevalier is THE resort of your summer holidays!
Did you know that?
The Serre Chevalier Cable Car is the historical and iconic lift of our resort !
Linked with the epic of skiing in Serre Chevalier, it has been part of the landscape of the valley for more than 80 years. And, for the pleasure of our holidaymakers, it is open in summer.
The little story of the cable car in the heart of the Great History from its early age
The cable car project was born in 1935. However, it could only be inaugurated in 1941, in the midst of World War 2. At that time, it was the longest cable car in Europe, with two sections.
The first section was replaced by the Ratier Gondola in 2013 but the original structure of the station has been kept. The second section of the cable car is still in operation.
The departure station of Serre Ratier had to be rebuilt following a fire in 1983 but the arrival station still exists. It was renovated in 2021 for its 80th birthday : new roof, outside and inside siding, repair of defective structural elements and other necessary works. In order to enable visitors to take a look at the mechanisms, a special space has been created inside the arrival station. People can see the rotation of the pulley and the counterweight (free access).
Once at the top of the cable car, you can easily access to the orientation table located a few steps away, at the altitude of 2,491 m. Be prepared to be impressed by the exceptional landscapes over the Guisane Valley, the Aiguilles d’Arves, the Pelvoux and all the summits of the Ecrins National Park.
During your stay, no doubt you will think about...
- Check the weather forecast for the day before you set off
- Wear suitable clothes and shoes
- Stay on the marked trails and close all gates behind you
